Mixed singles leagues

Rules (amended, 25th February 2008)

Note : matches to be completed by 30th April

Each mini-league will normally have 5 players, unless there are insufficient players to make up the numbers, in which case the structure will be reviewed. The bottom league may have fewer than five players.

New league details will be posted on the pavilion notice board and copies sent to the club’s web-master within 7 days after the end of the previous round.

Matches are to be played by the specified deadline: usually 6 to 8 weeks after the start of each round.

The winner and second in each mini-league will be promoted to the next league up (except for those in the premier) and the bottom two demoted. If after playing all their games two players have equal points, the one with the highest games average (total games won divided by total games lost) will be placed above the other.

Play the best of three sets with normal scoring in games and sets with a tie-break at 6 games all.

The winner of a match gets 5 points for a three set win, and 6 points for a straight sets win.

The loser gets at least one point for playing and another point for winning a set, plus a bonus point for taking the third set to a tie-break at 6-6 (but not if the match is decided on a tie-break before 6-6 because of insufficient time – see below).

You can adjourn if no result after 120 minutes and arrange to finish within 7 days, or if there is no opportunity to do this, play a tie-break-decider in lieu of a final set.

Games are to be played outside club nights, coaching and team matches. If forced to adjourn by bad weather or other valid reason, arrange to resume within 7 days.

Please put scores and points on the notice board in the clubhouse after each game.
